Project Information
Scope: This project represents Phase I of the newest high school for Judson Independent School District and is located along Evans Road, 1 mile east of F.M. 2252, outside Loop 1604 on the northeast side. The project includes the construction of new school facilities and associated site work such as parking and drive improvements, on-site utilities, extensive underground drainage improvements, courtyard improvements, on-site detention improvements, permanent water quality improvements (site is over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone), and an on-site sanitary sewer treatment plant. Design of Athletic improvements included a competition grade all-weather track and football field, track improvements, soccer field, practice field, tennis courts, softball & baseball field complex, and other improvements such as grading and utilities for concession stands and restroom facilities adjacent to the athletic fields. Site grading and drainage design incorporated retaining walls, ramps & risers, maximum slopes, bleacher pads and all manner of related site improvements. All fields were sized and graded to high school federation standards for competition grade athletic facilities. Off-site infrastructure requirements were also significant. A 2-mile water main extension along F.M. 2252 and then along Evans Road was required to bring water to the school, and the widening of a large portion of Evans Road fronting the school was required. Turn lane intersection improvements at the corner of Evans Road and F.M. 2252 were also required due to the increased traffic from the school site. Some of the athletic fields which were designed with this package, as well as some classroom wings are to be built with Phase II of the school construction, to be funded with the next bond issue. Construction of Phase I is currently 85% complete, and the school is set to open in August, 2016.
