Anne Marie Tennis Center:

  • Project Description

  • Project Information

Scope:  The Anne Marie Tennis Center is a new 18 tennis court facility including competition grade courts, state-of-the art sports lighting, canopies, bleachers, and other associated site work improvements.  These courts were constructed to replace the existing 10 court facility located on the site that were no longer able to provide the level of service required.
The new courts were constructed as an asphalt and concrete hybrid court system utilizing the benefits of both materials to provide the best playing surface, with the longest life expectancy, and lowest long term maintenance requirements.  This system consisted of first removing over 20,000 cubic yards of existing onsite expansive clays and replacing with flexible base material. After the initial earthwork was complete, a slab-on-grade concrete foundation was then placed over the base material.  Following the curing of the concrete a 2” asphalt overlay was placed on top of the foundation.   Finally the tennis court surface was placed on the asphalt.  This system will allow for the courts to “float” on the soils below and minimize the surface cracking of the courts that becomes evident overtime when using a conventional all concrete or all asphalt court system.
